Chain Link vs. Vinyl

When you’re looking to put a new fence up around your yard, one of the biggest choices you’ll face is deciding what type of material to build your fence from. Wood? Vinyl? Chain link? Chain slats?

There’s a bevy of options, but today we’ll look at the advantages and disadvantages of two of the most popular types of fence materials: chain link and vinyl.

Chain Link
Here at Slat Depot we offer chain link fences with slat inserts, to increase the privacy and aesthetics of the fence. One of the biggest draws people have to chain link fences (with these slat inserts) is their price. It’s extremely durable and cost-effective, as well as simple to install.

However, chain link fencing, even with slat inserts, doesn’t look as pretty as vinyl, and the coating on the metal links will fade after years of exposure to the sun. However, chain link fences are still a great option for the budget conscious.

Vinyl
Vinyl fencing is the most durable material you can choose, and the most popular for residential use. It’s easy to install, and as a customer you have a wealth of options when it comes to design, color, and size. It’s also fade-resistant, making it a longer-lasting option than chain link. However, it’s not a good option for people in windy areas and is more expensive.
